Rose grew up in the Kilimanjaro region in northern Tanzania. After completing her primary education she stayed with her grandparents and helped them on the farm. Then one day her sister took her to Dar es Salaam, with an offer for Rose to work in her shop.
She has now been working in the shop for two years and a lot has already happened. More items has been introduced, but the competition is stiff and many prices has also risen. Out of all the things the shop can offer it is still the smaller things that makes the most profit, mobile phone top up vouchers. Rose’s dream is to become a successful business woman, running her own shop, and her current job is a step on the way, as her sister has promised that she will give her some capital in a few years so that she can start her own business.
